Live Event Streaming: Current Industry Trends

The Live Streaming of Conferences, Trade shows, Seminars & other large scale gatherings has become an industry unto itself…

Journalists, experts, trend-setters & progressive innovators look to these events for the latest advancements in business, health, law, finance, communication & technology.

While it’s common these days for conferences and other events to fill conference venues and meeting rooms to capacity,  this in turn means that event organizers and businesses often have to turn away many registrants due to physical space constraints.

The solution that more and more event organizers are turning to these days, to convert those missed opportunities into added reach & extra revenue, is to Stream their Events Live.

This creates added value for presenters and includes people unable to attend the physical event. In addition recordings of the presentations can be made available as Video-on-Demand after the event.

For example, a 2017 MarTech article has outlined their plan to create a dedicated Live Streaming Desk in their studio, citing more affordable technology costs and the recent surge in professional live streaming services accessible for small-scale businesses, as their reasoning behind this decision.

And they’re not the only ones with this perspective. According to an Exhibitor piece on trade show trends, in 2012 38% of attendees to all US trade shows were first timers. This translates into what this article calls “a vital show-floor marketplace full of new buyers that exhibitors wouldn’t otherwise interact with if they had not chosen to participate.”

And this trend has only expanded in recent years. According to TSNN Trade Show News Network, this industry is highly concentrated – for example, 50% of the largest events in the US take place in just three cities: Las Vegas, Chicago, and Orlando, making travel impractical or unaffordable for a large segment of potential attendees.

This situation creates a huge opportunity to target even more individuals, by streaming entire or even just key portions of sold-out venues to extra viewers, with a powerful online alternative: Live Streaming of Conference Events and other large gatherings.
